Yeah so look.
Sure look.
I’m just stepping out.
Looking for mischief.
You know what they say right? No? Actually, neither do I. I was hoping you could and would tell me. So here I am. Casually being casual, seriously stepping out. Well outside of what is my comfort zone; as a challenge, but also as a matter of course.
You see, the last two weeks have been nothing short of a whirlwind. I came back from holidays and went straight into being a judge at the 21st Tiger Dublin Fringe. I’m going to be honest here. I’m going to be straight up; I’m well proud.
‘But Timi! Pride comes before a fall!’ Kindly shut the fuck right up please and thank you very much! I’ve never been so proud to be a part of something so much bigger than me. Something I’ve never even dreamed of doing or being invited to do in the first place.
I spent my two weeks going to show after show, that is two weeks I spent being inspired by people I would count as soNozzle & Spray that it actually hurt! These people begin with the performers, who wowed me on a daily basis. The talent, the brilliance, the pomp and the fucking pizzazz but most importantly, the gall to put on some of the best spectacles I have ever seen, both on the small to the large scale.
The inspiration continues with the organizers, worthy of supply chain degrees, the lot of them had me enthralled by their knowledge, intricacy, powers of both persuasion and motivation (especially at 3 in the morning, take a bow Kate!). My fellow judges, well it was a pleasure to adjudicate along with them over the last fortnight. The experience they have in their various fields and the refined talents bristling in them was phenomenal… Why they asked me to join them is almost beyond me.
As far as the last fortnight went, this 21st celebrations of all things Fringe, I’d say went spectacularly. I’m just glad to have been on the ride.
Front and center.
