First Look: H&M Studio S/S 2016

As the old adage goes, 'all good things are worth waiting for'. In this case, the adage holds true as H&M have finally dropped the first Studio Collection for men.

Earlier today, I popped down to the Gallery of Photography in Temple Bar; it was actually my first time in there which is terrible form for me, but just like the old adage, it really was waiting for. The Gallery is absolutely gorgeous with little nooks and crannies in various places that the H&M press team exploited to the maximum; but there will be more of that later.

H&M have had a number of the Studio collection for ladies and it's great to have a line for us long suffering men who are not afraid of standing out from the crowd. The entire collection is about modernising classic pieces for the man of today and that is reflected in the quality and cut of each individual piece in the collection. There is a functionality and weight to each piece that makes it stand out yet blend seamlessly into the rest of the collection.

The theme for the season's collection and the press day was all about adventuring and that could be seen in the comfortably rigid and functionally boxy shape that permeates the line. I have my eye on a couple of pieces, both beige and both over-sized (of course). The pricing on the line is mostly what you would expect from H&M with some pieces being a little bit more than average but the price being reflected in the quality.

Walking around the gallery was a joy as it was almost like travelling through an urban forest. There were potted plants strategically placed on both floors that you had to traverse around and the nooks and crannies were transformed into display spaces for the mens' collection and a gorgeous geometric prism installation by the creative team headed up by Lesiele Juliet.

There was of course the most gorgeous line up of breakfast treats that were so beautiful that I wasn't sure if I should eat them; but I did of course and enjoyed a mango topped glass of gelatinous heaven with a rich dark cherry on top... I am satisfied!

I'm really loving the new Studio Collection for men, as it is everything I love in oversized and durable clothing that is begging to be layered or worn as standalone pieces. I also can't wait to come back to the Gallery of Photography after finally making my way down. Finally, because no day is complete without jumping to the sky....

The collection hits Irish markets on the 18th of February; more over at H&M
