Going for a walk through the city seems like a bit of a dated pastime, so how about a float through the city instead? As usual, it started with an idea... An idea a little out of the ordinary; just like the outfit that inspired it.

Over the last few weeks and months as the weather has gotten a bit milder, I've taken to donning one of my growing collection of capes. Unlike conventional jackets and knitwear, I love the length of a cape and the flexibility they give in layering; not just against the elements but in creating structure around an outfit.
I also find (in a weird way) that capes are very empowering; it is the same feeling having your cape flowing behind you as you strut down a busy street as wearing a brand new suit for the very first time. In the shoot featured in this post, I am wearing this wraparound black knit cape from Topman over a longline Cardigan and plain white tee from Boohoo ; the jeans also come from Topman while the Indian Rosewood (yes, that' she official colour) Nikes are from Size .
As usual with mine and Ayesha's shoots, we decided to go very conceptual with this one to show off the allure of the cape in the city. A few days previously, it dawned on me that I looked like an African version of Emperor Palpatine of Star Wars (in)famy and I got to thinking and chatting with Ayesha the powers of the force and how we could translate them into photographs. We are quite happy with the results....
Catch you on the flip side 🎈
