Simmering under the surface of Nowhere is a level of calm and tranquility; a whirlpool of cool that you just don't see in many places in Dublin. Nowhere is now here...
Last week, I had my fortnightly photo shoot at Nowhere alongside fellow blogger Lawson over at Lawsofstyle. I've always loved the look and layout of Nowhere since I first came across it on Aungier Street sometime last year. The store really stands out firstly because of its location; I found it a bit odd that a store selling such exclusive brands would set up camp on a street known for its universities, restaurants and churches (I know right) but somehow it works; it's like an oasis that you just kind of gravitate towards.
One of my favorite things about the store is the way the space is used; there are two rails on both sides of the store that somehow hold pretty much all the stock but no, the rails are not overflowing with items; they are remarkably easy to shop. There is this feeling of expensive taste in the store and to be honest, the clothes are a little pricey but justifiably so. The store carries exclusive lines such as KTZ, Matthew Miller and others which you'll be happy to fork over tidy sums for (well I would anyway)...
While there are vast empty spaces to walk around in store, it is important to note that every inch of the store is functional. There is storage hidden everywhere; from the beautiful leather bench to the ornately carved tills and the stately fitting rooms. This all adds to the luxury quality of the brand.
Some say there is a Scandinavian feel to the place but the owners are keen to stress that it is actually a distinctly Irish and Dublin quality that they were going for; Nowhere symbolizes the Irishman of today: straight up, confident, creative and cool in his own way. I'm inclined to agree and while my wallet is not, it doesn't have a say I the matter!
